Overview Of Yinfeng Life Extension Program

The Yinfeng Life Extension Program is a future-oriented and challenging frontier life science research project initiated by Shandong Yinfeng Research Institute of Life Sciences. The program mainly includes the research project of tissue and organ cryopreservation and resuscitation and the research project of human body cryopreservation and resuscitation. It is dedicated to using advanced cryogenic biomedical technology to carry out research on cryopreservation, resuscitation and clinical transformation of cells and tissues and organs.

Human Cryopreservation and Resuscitation Research Project

The research of human cryopreservation is based on the joint research of cryobiology, cryomedicine, molecular biology and clinical medicine, which can slow down or even suspend the metabolic speed of human cells, tissues and organs, block the process of function failure and death, protect the integrity of cell structure and the function of biochemical pathway, realize the suspension and restart of the physiological and biochemical functions of human tissues and organs, and make life last. In 2017, the operation of the first human cryopreservation volunteer in Asia was completed.

Original minimally invasive surgical protocol: Innovate minimally invasive dual-access extracorporeal circulation perfusion surgery and right femoral artery and vein ECMO percutaneous perfusion technology. This technique avoids the open injury to the body caused by thoracotomy. It is punctured and drained through femoral artery, femoral vein and bilateral external jugular vein of neck, and connected with extracorporeal circulation equipment, which not only ensures the brain but also the systemic circulation perfusion, and improves the perfusion efficiency.

Independent research and development of cryoprotectants: Since the cells have a process of adapting to the concentration change of cryoprotectants, in 2017, our hospital independently developed YF series of cryopreservatives for human tissues and organs. The cryoprotectants with 6 gradients are used for cooling and perfusion, which is of great significance to the protection of organism cells.

High-precision, long-span programmed cooling instrument: Yinfeng has developed the world's first high-precision, large-span human body cryopreservation program cooling equipment and low-temperature operating table, which can be continuously cooled from room temperature to below -190°C. The equipment makes use of precise control of jet vortex pressure, direction and computer program to quickly form liquid nitrogen vapor vortex in the cooling chamber to ensure rapid and balanced cooling.

Self-developed cryosurgical perfusion monitoring system: In order to more accurately, timely and intuitively monitor the key technical indexes such as temperature, pressure, flow rate and degree of protection agent replacement in life-continuing research, our hospital invested a great deal of manpower and financial resources, and spent 10 months with scientific research organization to complete the development and optimization of the cryosurgical perfusion monitoring system, and verified the comprehensive performance of the system through experiments.

Customized cryopreservation equipment: Our hospital adopts liquid nitrogen storage tank as two-person and four-person tank with customizable capacity to meet the needs of different patients. Meanwhile, liquid level display + multi-point temperature dynamic detection is adopted for liquid nitrogen tank, equipped with independent liquid level monitoring instrument and network liquid level monitoring, which can realize automatic liquid nitrogen replenishment, automatic alarm for abnormal conditions and high degree of safety.

Research Project on Cryopreservation and Resuscitation of Tissues and Organs

Organ transplantation is one of the most effective methods for the treatment of end-stage organ failure, which can significantly improve the quality of life of patients with organ failure. With the rapid development of organ transplantation technology, the shortage of donor organ has become a key problem to limit the development of clinical organ transplantation. In recent years, the rapid development of organ transplantation and related basic research has brought about an urgent need for the high quality preservation of complex tissues and organs. The lack of donor tissues and organs and the mismatch between donor and recipient in time and space limit their clinical application, and cryopreservation is expected to solve this limitation. At present, although the cryopreservation of small-sized biological samples such as cells and embryos has been successfully realized, the existing cryopreservation technologies still face many bottleneck problems for large volume complex tissues and organs.

Shandong Yinfeng Life Science Research Institute has been trying to cryopreserve organs for a long time, but because of the complexity of tissue and organ function structure, the existing cryopreserved organs still fail to achieve the expected preservation effect. In recent years, due to the development of material science, low temperature biology and interdisciplinary research, many new materials have been applied to the field of low temperature preservation, and some new methods of low temperature preservation have been developed, such as new protective agents from natural sources, new methods of ice suppression and rapid rewarming. The introduction of these techniques expands the research scope of traditional cryopreservation, provides new approaches and methods for the preservation of complex tissues and organs, and is hopeful to break through the technical bottleneck in the present complex tissue and organ cryopreservation.


The research of tissue and organ bank is a comprehensive research project that applies the advanced cryopreservation technology to the cryopreservation and recovery of many tissues and organs from human body, and explores the use of clinical abandoned or donated tissues and organs to develop biological materials and artificial tissue organs which can replace the damaged or missing tissues and organs.

The main ways to prolong the preservation and transport time of organs in clinic are cryostatic preservation and hypothermic mechanical perfusion. In recent years, many experts have pointed out that whether long-term high-quality preservation of tissues and organs can be realized is the key to solve the high rejection rate of donated tissues and organs. Exploring long-term and high-quality cryopreservation of complex tissues and organs has become a new research hotspot in the world. At present, Shandong Yinfeng Research Institute of Life Sciences has started the research on the preservation and resuscitation of human tissues and organs including skin, aorta and blood vessels, ovarian tissues and broken fingers, and established skin bank and broken finger (toe) bank together with clinical institutions and scientific research institutes. To meet the urgent need of clinical transplantation and organ repair; At the same time, a variety of tissue engineering matrix materials, such as sponge, powder and membrane, were preliminarily formed, and 3D printing and stem cell technology were used to customize and develop artificial tissues and organs in vitro. With the further study of cryoprotective mechanism, the long-term cryopreservation of biological tissues and organs will be realized.
