From July 17 to 19, 2026, the Annual Meeting (the 25th Academic Conference) of the Medical Ethics Branch of the Chinese Medical Association convened in Hefei, Anhui Province. Citing the governance requirements of “Ethics First, Compliance with Laws and Regulations, Agile Governance, Grounded in National Realities, and Open Collaboration” outlined in the Guidelines on Strengthening Governance over Science and Technology Ethicsjointly issued by the General Offices of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, Professor Cao shared his interpretation of “Ethics First” through three dimensions: project overview, ethical controversies, and ethical governance, drawing upon the practical explorations of the YinFeng initiative. Co-authored by leading domestic experts in cryobiology and ethics, the book is slated for publication by the University of Science and Technology of China Press. Notably, Chapter Six—“Suspended Animation: The Science and Ethics of Cryobiology and Human Cryopreservation”—was jointly written by expert teams from the Shandong YinFeng Institute of Life Sciences and Shandong University.

The YinFeng Life Continuation Project is a pioneering comprehensive research initiative in life sciences launched and implemented by the Shandong YinFeng Institute of Life Sciences. Currently, the ovarian tissue dual activation technology has been successfully applied in clinical practice at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine Shenzhen (Longgang) Hospital, having treated over 400 patients with a treatment success rate of 70%. Over the next three years, Shandong Yinfeng Life Science Research Institute plans to use Jinan as a center to gradually expand the transformation and application of this technological achievement nationwide.
